In this article, we're gonna set a theme for TimeChimp to make the product more connected to your business.

What is a theme?
Of course, it's nice if TimeChimp connects with your company. This gives confidence to your employees, and it also just looks cool. The theme determines the colour of the menu bar, the logo you see, and the colour of the buttons. Setting up your own theme is done in a matter of seconds.
Be aware! To use a custom theme, you need to be on the business plan
How do I add a custom theme?
So, you finally decided to give your product a new coat of paint? Smart choice! But before you start painting and wallpapering, make sure you have the right tools. In this case, that's a custom theme. In this guide, I'll explain how you can use a theme in your TimeChimp, without needing a whole IT department. Let's get started!
First, you need to check that the "custom theme" module is enabled in the app centre. Navigate to the app centre, click on the theme module, and enable it. Then navigate to "theme" in settings and enable the switch.
Now you can apply your own colours to certain elements of the product. Feel free to play with all the colours of the rainbow. Or, if you're like me, go for all shades of grey. You can also add your own logo, which is displayed in the menu bar.
Finally, don't forget to hit the "save" button. Otherwise, you will have done all that hard work for nothing. And that would be a real shame, wouldn't it?
What colours should I use?
The names you see may not tell you much. So use the table below to check where you can use which colours.
Colour name | Explanation | What will change? |
Main colour | The primary colour used throughout the application. By default, this is a purple colour. | Buttons and selected items get this colour |
Menu colour | This colour is used in the menu. This is black by default. | The background colour of the menu is changed to this colour |
Menu font colour | The menu items such as "register" and "overview" have a colour. This is white by default. | The text in the menu bar will have this colour. Make sure you have a good contrast! (So, not a white menu colour and white text.) |
Menu icon colour | Menu items such as "register" and "overviews" have an icon with a colour. This is white by default. | The icons next to the text in the menu bar will be this colour. Make sure you have a good contrast! (So, not a white menu colour and white icons.) |
Menu font colour active | If you are on a page, it is called "active" If you are on the overview page, it is active. | When you are on the page, the menu text of this page gets the colour you choose. |

If you want to go back to the old theme, just turn off the switch at the top. Then you'll have the old familiar TimeChimp theme back.
