Mastering Your Projects with the Project Dashboard

Learn how to navigate the project dashboard and keep your projects on track while avoiding budgetary mayhem!

In this article, we will explain what information you can find on the project dashboard, step by step.

Note: The projects dashboard is available starting with the Advanced subscription

The projects dashboard contains a wealth of valuable information to help you manage your projects effectively. Using the image below, we will explain what is available on the dashboard.

  1. Project code

  2. Project name

  3. General billing method

  4. Start and end dates of the project

  5. Customer name

  6. Red line (budget): Represents the project's budget in hours. This line is only visible if the budget method is in hours. Learn more about different budget methods.

  7. Purple line (Hours progress): Shows the progression of hours logged for the project. Hover over the line to see the total hours registered up to that day.

  8. Total Time Tracked: Displays the total number of hours logged on the project, categorized into: billable hours, non-billable hours & planned hours from today onwards.

  9. Not invoiced: The outstanding amount for the project based on the selected billing method. Learn more about invoicing methods here. If this value is 0 despite hours being logged, find out how to resolve this issue.

  10. Costs: Reflects the total costs incurred for the project. This includes employee purchase hourly rate and any recorded expenses. If the costs show you 0, you may not have logged expenses or specified a purchase hourly rate. Learn how to configure this.

  11. Total mileage: Displays the total kilometers logged for this project.

  12. Budget: Indicated the current state of the project compared to the set budget.

    If no budget is set, this is where you can configure one.

  13. Milestones: Allows you to set milestones for the project.

  14. Estimates: View all estimates associated with the project and create new estimates directly from this section.

  15. Invoices: View all invoices associated with the project and create new invoices directly from this section.

  16. Attachments: See all attachments added to the project and upload new ones here.

  17. Archive project

  18. Edit: Access the project settings, including the billing method.

Scrolling down the dashboard reveals more detailed project information

  1. The dropdown menu shows three options: Time table, Expenses table & Mileage table.

  2. The time table can be specified by activity or by employee. Here, you can view an overview of the hours per activity and the progress toward the budget if it has been set up this way.

  3. Select a specific time period to view corresponding data.

  4. Add notes to the project here. Notes, including the date they were added, will appear at the bottom of the project dashboard.
